At approximately 2:45 p.m. June 20, 2024, the Cottage Grove Public Safety Department responded to the 8600 Block of Johansen Avenue South for a report of a 3-year-old female found in a pool. Family and neighbors found her unresponsive and began life saving measures.
Cottage Grove Police officers arrived within three minutes and continued those lifesaving efforts. The child was transported by Cottage Grove Fire/EMS to Regions Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The Cottage Grove Police Department partners with the Washington County Sheriff’s Department for all drowning related investigations. Even though the investigation is still ongoing we do not suspect foul play. We do not have any scheduled public updates for this case.
The Cottage Grove Public Safety Department extends our condolences to the family and friends who are grieving from this tragedy.
