Park’s Zack Carr, Dylan Richardson and Landen Brooks each finished in sixth places in the gigantic Minnesota Christmas wrestling tournament at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester Friday and Saturday.
Sixth-ranked sophomore Brooks finished sixth at 139 pounds. Brooks opened with a 7-0 win over Gavin Connelly of Byron, then won 5-1 against Walker Gaulrapp of Elk River. In the quarterfinals Brooks fell 18-4 to eventual bracket runner up Christian Jelle of Grand Rapids.
At 152 pounds, third-ranked senior Carr won 19-3 over Clayton Charmoli of St. Francis, 8-5 over George Jones of Stillwater and then 2-1 against Alden Graner of Plainview-Elgin-Millville in the 152-pound quarterfinals. Carr lost a 10-2 decision in the semifinals to Davis Parrow of Farmington.
Wrestling at 189 pounds, fifth-ranked Richardson scored wins of 16-2 over Xavier Timm of Hastings and 8-4 against Carter Flatland of Owatonna before falling in the 189-pound quarterfinals to Joseph Helm of Shakopee 19-4.
Seventh-ranked sophomore Nolan Block had a tough opening match at 114 and fell 18-0 to Brodie Lawrence of Stillwater.
Park finished with 109 points in the massive 49-team tournament. Top-ranked St. Michael-Albertville (376) easily won the team title. No. 2 Stillwater was second (271.5), Simley eighth (163.5), No. 4 Hastings was 15th (130.5), sixth-ranked Mounds View 16th (126.0) Park 19th (109) and 11th-ranked Forest Lake finished 25th (93.5).
Park competes in the 16-team invitational at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Monday, Dec. 29. The Wolfpack are at the Cambridge-Isanti invitational on Saturday, Jan. 3.
