Landen Brooks and Zack Carr brought home individual titles Saturday to pace the Park Wolfpack to a second-place team finish in the Veldman Invite tournament at South St. Paul High School.

Brooks finished first at 139 pounds while Carr won the 152-pound title. Brooks scored a 13-5 decision in the 139-pound finals over Brandon Kelvie of Lakeville South, while Carr won a 7-2 match over Tyler Berchtold of South St. Paul for the 152-pound crown.

Finishing third were Nolan Gehlar at 107 and Jesse Wright at 285. Nolan Bloch was fourth at 114, Jackson Van Horn fourth at 121, TJ Richardson fifth at 127, Jaxon Jubinal sixth at 133, Mason Dougherty fifth at 139, Ricky Santos fifth at 145, Dallas Johnson eighth at 160, Logan Kaiser seventh at 172, Corbin Cortinas fourth at 189 and Aiden Winsor fifth at 215.

Girls placing in the tournament were led by Rebekah Lankow who took first a 130-136. Lankow pinned Carli Crain of Aitkin in just 56 seconds to earn the 130-136 pound title. Jocelyn Meulemans finished fifth at 106. Park’s girls placed sixth in the tournament with 33 points.

Park was second in the 14-team tournament with 166 points. The top five teams were South St. Paul (179.5), Park (166), Minneapolis Roosevelt (164), Aitkin (121.\,5)

Park pins Eagan and Roseville

Park’s wrestlers chalked up two more dual meet wins Thursday, but the news out of the Wolfpack camp was very far away from all positive.

Senior captain Dylan Richardson, ranked all season at Class AAA 189 pounds, is most likely done for the season with a knee injury and that puts a huge dent in the Wolfpack’s season going forward.

“It’s unfortunate what’s going on with Dylan,” said Park head coach Jim LaBrosse. “He tore his ACL again. So, it doesn’t look good. It’s really tough luck for him. Ranked fourth right now. He goal was to be all state and I think he would of. We would have gotten him there. We’ll just wait and see and hopefully get him back, but it doesn’t look good at this point.”

“I’ve already shed my tears about this,’ said Richardson.

Park rolled Roseville 51-20 in the first of three matches Thursday, Eagan pinned Roseville 54-15, then took down Eagan in a competition 36-34 match to cap the evening.

Park had four wins by forfeits and three pins by Mason Dougherty, Zack Carr, Jesse Wright and Carson Fritsche in an easy win over Roseville in the opener.

The Wolfpack then got key pins from Jaxson Jubinal, Landen Brooks and Zack Carr to take down the Eagan Wildcats.

“They all did,” said LaBrosse when asked who wrestled well for Park in the two matches. “They really wrestled well as a team I thought. It was good to get Landen back.

Park hosts White Bear Lake, Coon Rapids and Tartan Thursday in a home quad meet starting at 5 p.m.
