Park senior Damion Charpentier won the 200-yard freestyle (1:59.88) and junior Ethyn Schilling continued his diving dominance as the Wolfpack swim and dive team hosted Mounds View on senior night Thursday.
Schilling scored 232.80 to easily win the 1-meter diving competition. John Jaso was fourth (200.05) and Carter Darling fifth (193.15).
“It’s been fun,” said Schilling, who ranked third among Suburban East Conference drivers after five meets with a 230.35 average. “I feel my front approaches have been really efficient recently, they’ve been giving me the height I need for my dives. Overall, just making me a better diver.
“Hopefully in sections I can get a top four finish and go to state, first time ever,” Schilling added. “Last year I placed sixth and the year before that I also placed sixth. I’m very close. I do think I’ve improved a lot to get there (to state).”
Will Mann was third in the 200 (2:12.15), Tyler Cracauer was second in both the 200-yard IM (2:18.63) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.51), Cole placed second in the 50 (23.90) and second in the 100 (51.25), Charpentier was second in the 100-yard butterfly (59.28), Parker Stueber took second in the 500 (5:37.63). Wallace swam to a time of 1:06.49 in the breaststroke and Yang clocked a 1:12.23.
In the relays, Park was second in the 200-yard medley with the team of Cole, Wallace, Charpentier and Yang finishing in 1:49.47. The Wolfpack foursome of Yang, Mann, Stueber and Wallace were third in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:46.30. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Zachary Wood, Cracauer, Charpentier and Cole clocked a time of 3:48.38.
Mounds View won the dual meet, 97-86.
It was the final meet of the regular season. Next up for Park is the section finals, held again this season at Two Rivers High School on Wednesday, Feb. 18 through Friday, Feb. 20. Start time is 6 p.m. each night.
