A long and mostly frustrating regular lacrosse season for the Park Wolfpack came to an end Thursday night in a lopsided loss to archrival and third-ranked East Ridge.
The Raptors won 18-1 at Cottage Grove, the latest in a season of lopsided losses for the Wolfpack. Park has struggled through double digit losses in five of its last seven games.
Park ended the regular season with a 3-10 record. The eighth-seeded Wolfpack were scheduled to host ninth-seeded TriMAC in a Class A, Section 3 play-in game Tuesday.
East Ridge finished 8-1 and second in the Suburban East Conference and 12-1 overall. The Raptors drew the top seed in Section 3 and will host the winner of the Park-TriMAC game Thursday.
Leo Stalsberg and former Park star Bradley Johnson did most of the damage for the Raptors Thursday, each scoring four goals.
“We need to raise our lacrosse IQ,” said Park head coach Alain Rodrigue. “We need to work on working together as a team. But guys just need to not be afraid to be physical and play team defense. You could name it. You could name anything – we need to work at it. We’re a young team that is trying to put it all back together and we’ll work on that in the summer.”
