Park tennis graduated a monster class of 15 seniors off last year’s team but return a whomping 13 seniors for this fall.
“Our varsity will look a lot different,” said longtime head coach Tony Townsend in something of an understatement.
Leading the returning players for the Wolfpack will be senior Chloe Newhouse who was All-Conference last season at No. 1 doubles. She will play a lot of top doubles along with time at No. 2 and No. 3 singles.
Senior Alaina Post returns to the singles lineup. She will play a lot of No. 2 and No. 3 singles this upcoming season. Park also returns sophomore Evelyn Johnson to the singles lineup. She will bounce back and forth between No. 3 and No. 4 singles. New to the singles lineup will be Alivia Luu who will be Park’s top singles player to start the season.
“Our doubles lineup will be completely different,” Townsend said. “Newcomers to our doubles starting lineup will be seniors Ashlyn Mullen and Gabby Stepka. Other doubles contributors will be seniors Bailey Ledman and Natalie Karels.
“We are going to be a senor dominated team but will be inexperience in doubles,
Townsend added. “We are hoping to gain that experience at a fast pace and lean on our athleticism and senior leadership. I am very excited to watch this team grow throughout the season. We are hoping to finish in the middle of the conference and to make a nice run during team sections.”
Park opens the season at East Ridge Tuesday, Sept. 1, starting at 4 p.m., then host Woodbury Thursday, Sept. 3, also starting at 4 p.m.
