The Park girls have two top seniors to replace this season, losing graduated senior captains Becca Rugless and Aspyn Offenhauser, but a very solid nucleus returns for the Wolfpack.
“We’ve got 11 or 12 seniors, which has never happened before,” said Park head coach Bay Shock. “We’ve got four steady seniors who have played a bunch in Olivia Korpi, Gabby Stepka, Elizabeth Cliton and Elsie Corrigan and then two more with varsity experience Lea Thachkenson and Alana Rislove.
Last season, Park’s Korpi shot a 91 on Thursday and Elise Corrigan shot a 96 to qualify for Day Two in the section meet, including a 10-foot putt by Corrigan to advance.
“The four returners have a ton of varsity experience,” said Shock. “Then the fifth and sixth positions may be in flux for a while. We’ve got the two regulars and may have some from the JV right there. If they’re playing well, they may get a shot.
“We’re looking to move up in the conference with the four people that have been there,” Shock continued. “We’ve got a decent group with the ones we’ve got coming back.”
Park will host all Suburban East Conference teams to open the season at home at River Oaks Golf Course on Wednesday, April 15 with an 18-hole varsity tournament.
