Volunteer for National Public Lands Day

Come out and lend a hand to help restore the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area for National Public Lands Day with the National Park Service, Mississippi Park Connection, and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

Volunteers are invited to meet on Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Padelford Landing at Harriet Island Regional Park in Saint Paul, boarding the Padelford boat to Pig's Eye Scientific and Natural Area to clean up trash on the site. Park Rangers will provide insight into the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area to volunteers on their journey to the island. The event runs from 9 a.m. to noon.

Close-toed shoes and clothing layers are suggested. Please bring your own snacks, water, sunscreen, and insect repellant. Staff will provide gloves, trash grabbers, and bags for participants.

The event is open to all ages. Harriet Island Regional Park does contain areas with steep and uneven terrain. Participants with mobility issues are welcome to stay on the boat to assist rangers and staff with grabbing trash bags from others.

For any questions about the clean-up event, please contact volunteer@parkconnection.org.
