Washington County’s new Central Service and License Center in Woodbury is opening to the public Monday, Aug. 25, at 8:30 a.m. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 8:30 a.m.
The Central Service and License Center, located at 1261 Woodlane Dr., is replacing the county’s Woodbury Service Center located at 2150 Radio Dr., which will close at 12:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 22.
The public should be aware of two service updates at the Woodbury Service Center for the day of Aug. 22:
• CareerForce services, veteran services, and in-person Community Services appointments will occur at the R.H. Stafford Library (available during normal library hours).
• Licensing services will be available at the Woodbury location until 12:30 p.m. Community members can access these services at other county License Centers after 12:30 p.m. that day. For more information on Service and License Center hours, locations, and wait times, visit WashingtonCountyMN.gov/SLC.
The Central Service and License Center will offer an expanded list of services from the former service center, including:
• Licensing services, including motor vehicle registration, state IDs, driver’s licenses, and passports.
• Human services such as crisis intervention, financial support, and veteran services.
• CareerForce workforce development services.
• Public health clinic and Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) services.
• Household medication drop box.
• Election services.
• Property taxes and homesteading.
WIC and immunization services will begin in early September. WIC appointments can be made now by calling 651-430-6658, and immunization appointments can be made at WashingtonCountyMN.gov/Immunizations or by calling 651-430-4036.
Sustainability was a key focus of the Central Service and License Center construction. The building will be the first county facility to have a rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) array and will feature electric vehicle chargers in the parking lot. Sustainable elements were also incorporated in the building materials, stormwater runoff design, and indoor air handling and lighting systems.
The Central Service and License Center will offer improved accessibility for community members, both in terms of transportation connections and physical infrastructure and amenities.
The Central Service and License Center’s proximity to many transportation options will provide easy access for people in nearby Oakdale, Landfall, and Woodbury, and the building’s amenities will make it easy for people to get the services they need regardless of age or ability.
The facility is located at the eastern terminus of the Metro Transit Gold Line Bus Rapid Transit line and across the street from the Woodlane Drive Station Park & Ride. For information about the Gold Line, visit www.MetroTransit.org/Gold-Line-Project. The location provides access to Metro Transit routes 323 and 325 and falls inside the service area of Metro micro, a shared ride service through Metro Transit.
