Washington County Commissioner and Board Chair Stan Karwoski, District 2, received the Minnesota Transportation Alliance’s Transportation Advocate Award Nov. 3 for his leadership and long-term commitment to strengthening Minnesota’s transportation infrastructure.
Karwoski has been a vocal supporter of the METRO Gold Line Bus Rapid Transit project and has championed roadway safety improvements and regional transportation planning that benefit residents and employers throughout Washington County.
“The Minnesota Transportation Alliance is pleased to present this award to Commissioner Stan Karwoski for his leadership and commitment to advocating for a safer and more effective transportation system,” said Margaret Donahoe, Minnesota Transportation Alliance Director. “We greatly appreciate Commissioner Karwoski’s support of the Transportation Alliance and his participation as we work to improve transportation for all Minnesotans.”
The Transportation Advocate Award is presented periodically to individuals who go above and beyond in advocating for needed investments to improve Minnesota’s transportation infrastructure, including roads, bridges, transit systems, and other modes.
In addition to his work on the County Board, Karwoski serves on the Washington County Regional Rail Authority, the Gold Line Joint Powers Board, and the Metropolitan Transportation Advisory Board, where he works collaboratively with regional transportation partners.
“I am honored and humbled to receive this award,” said Commissioner Karwoski. “Improving our transportation network is essential to supporting the vitality, safety, and economic growth of our communities. I will continue to champion projects that expand mobility, connect people to jobs and services, and strengthen opportunities for the residents and businesses of Washington County.”
