Washington County Library is offering a variety of online programs for residents to enjoy at home. Registration is required so that participants receive the link to join virtually. In addition to featured events, most book clubs have transitioned to virtual or outdoor meetings. Storytimes in October will premiere on the library Facebook page every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.

Virtual Let’s Make Stuff: The Wacky World of Mail Art, 3-4:30 p.m. Oct. 13 Join us for Virtual Let’s Make Stuff! to get crafty and learn something new. In this class, we will talk about the history of mail art, look at some examples, and make art together. Let’s Make Stuff is a creative class for adults, funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Class size is limited so registration is required. Conversations on Death & Dying: Funerals 101, 5:30-7 p.m. Oct. 13 Conversations on Death & Dying is an online series that discusses end-of-life issues. This online meeting will focus on the funeral industry, after-death options, and funeral costs. It will be presented by the Funeral Consumers Alliance of Minnesota. Criminal Legal Advice Clinic, Oct. 14 10 a.m.-noon The Washington County Law Library provides weekly Criminal Legal Advice Clinics. Get a free half-hour consultation with a local volunteer attorney covering a range of topics from traffic tickets, criminal process, criminal expungement, DANCO orders, etc. All Legal Advice Clinics are being held over the telephone. Call 651-430-6330 or email [email protected] to schedule an appointment.

This online meeting will provide an overview of green or natural burials. It will be presented by the Funeral Consumers Alliance of Minnesota. Virtual Club Book: Megha Majumdar, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 21 Join Club Book and Washington County Library for a virtual evening with Megha Majumdar. Majumdar is the author behind A Burning, one of the most anticipated and best reviewed fiction debuts of 2020. This event will be held live on Facebook. Virtual Let’s Make Stuff! Iris Paper Folding, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 22 Join us for Virtual Let’s Make Stuff! to get crafty and learn something new. In this class, each participant will create a card by arranging and layering strips of paper in a spiraled pattern that resembles the iris of a camera lens. Let’s Make Stuff is a creative class for adults and funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Class size is limited so registration is required. Virtual: FamilyMeans Memory Café, 2-3 p.m. Oct. 22 FamilyMeans Virtual Memory Café is a welcoming place for those with memory loss and their caregivers. Join us to meet new people, connect with others for support and laughter and learn about community resources. Virtual Let’s Make Stuff: Sashiko Stitched Coasters, 6-7:30 p.m. Oct. 26 Join us for Virtual Let’s Make Stuff! to get crafty and learn something new. Sashiko is a form of linear Japanese embroidery using the running stitch to create pattern and design. Work with authentic sashiko thread, needle, and pre-designed fabric, learn the stitching process and a bit of its history, and come away with a hand-stitched coaster.
