Newport Library’s Senior Social Program aims to provide opportunities for seniors to share community, learn, and thrive. Activities include Free Coffee Hours every Thursday, Crafting every Wednesday, and special events throughout the year.

Storytime
10:30 – 11 a.m. - R. H. Stafford Library, 8595 Central Park Place, Woodbury
Sing, talk, read, write, and play with us at storytime in the R.H. Stafford Library Children's Area. Storytime is a great opportunity to meet new friends, socialize, and strengthen early literacy skills. Registration is not required. This storytime is recommended for children ages 2-6 and their grown-ups!

Fiber Arts Club
1 – 3 p.m. - R. H. Stafford Library, 8595 Central Park Place, Woodbury
Join the fiber arts club for knitting, crocheting, embroidery, and more. Each month, we will focus on a different project. Supplies will be available to help you get started, or you are welcome to bring your own project to work on.
All ages and skill levels are welcome. We meet every Thursday at R.H. Stafford Library to create, learn, and make new friends.
Registration is not required but encouraged.
All projects are for ages 11 and older as we will be using needles, scissors and other crafting tools.

Contraption Club (3D Printing) at Cottage Grove Service Center
3:30 – 4:30 p.m. - Cottage Grove Service Center, 13000 Ravine Parkway, Cottage Grove
Join us for Contraption Club at Cottage Grove Service Center, 13000 Ravine Parkway South, Cottage Grove. Learn how 3D printing works and use the free design software Tinkercad to create your own original 3D design.
Children ages 9-12 are welcome. Space is limited to 5 participants. Registration is required.
This is an abridged version of the program that took place at the Park Grove Library. Because 3D printing takes several hours, finished designs will be available for pickup the following week.

Food Truck Thursday at City Hall

Food Truck Thursday at City Hall in Cottage Grove is a weekly community event featuring a rotating lineup of local food trucks serving a variety of cuisines in a casual outdoor setting. It’s a popular midday gathering where residents and visitors can grab lunch, enjoy the atmosphere around City Hall, and support local vendors while connecting with the community.

Have you hit a roadblock in your genealogy (family history) research, or are you not sure where to begin? Sign up for a one-hour, one-on-one session at R.H. Stafford Library with a librarian who is a genealogy specialist. If the librarian doesn't have an answer to the question, they will try to help you find resources that can.
When you register, the librarian will email you to ask what you would like help with. Please reply to this email as soon as you can so the librarian can prepare and provide you with the best help possible.
Registration is required. When you arrive, check in at the Information Desk. You are welcome to bring your own tablet or laptop.

Silent Book Club (AKA: Introvert's Book Club) starts with 10 minutes of optional socialization followed by everyone taking out their book of choice and reading for about an hour. This will be an hour well spent.

Join us in singing, talking, reading, writing, and playing at this inclusive, welcoming storytime for families at the Cottage Grove Service Center (13000 Ravine Parkway South, Cottage Grove) starting at 10:30 a.m. We will meet in main corridor.
This storytime focuses on concepts such as life skills, emotions, community, family, and kindness. Storytime is your opportunity to meet new friends and strengthen early literacy skills. Activities during and after storytime are designed to strengthen fine and large motor skills. Grown-ups are expected to actively participate alongside the children they bring (modeling is one of the best ways to influence behavior). Please limit discussion between grown-ups until storytime has finished. This storytime is recommended for developmental ages birth to 8 and their grown-ups.
Art Cart immediately follows storytime. Children will make art with help from their grown-up. Crafts are focused on fine motor development for children developmental ages 2-5.
Registration is not required.

Read With Me

Join in this interactive Story Time! We will read together and participate in games and activities around the literature we are experiencing.

Nature Book Club at Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park
5 – 7 p.m. - Cottage Grove Service Center, 13000 Ravine Parkway, Cottage Grove
Join us at Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park for a special nocturnal-themed book discussion and educational presenter. We will discuss Night Magic: Adventures Among Glowworms, Moon Gardens, and Other Marvels of the Dark by Leigh Ann Henion, followed by a chance to meet nocturnal animals up close.
This event takes place on the first Tuesday of the month, which is a free admission day for all Washington County parks. A vehicle permit is NOT required to enter the park for this event.
Registration is required. Once you’ve registered, you will be contacted to arrange for a copy of the book to be delivered to your preferred library location to check out.

RHS Book Club

This month's selection is God of the Woods by Liz Moore.
Read the monthly selection and join in for the discussion about the title with the group.

Music and Movement Storytime at Cottage Grove Service Center

This storytime is great for practicing gross motor, listening, and social skills. We will sing, dance, play, read a story, and learn mindful movements and breathing exercises.
