Spring Break has arrived in Cottage Grove! While some residents may pack their suitcases and navigate to their dream destinations, others will remain in-town. Those who have chosen to spend their vacation in Cottage Grove might not have many solidified plans. Fortunately for them, the local Parks and Recreation Department has organized a thrilling activity for Cottage Grove citizens. It is an opportunity that will be marked by the exploration of Cottage Grove’s trail systems, playgrounds, and natural wonders.

“The 2021 Spring Medallion Hunt is a first of its kind. An opportunity for friends and families to welcome back the sunshine,” the city’s official website communicates further.

The pursuit to find the circular gem will launch on Monday, March 8th at 9am when the first clue is published. Each morning after that, one additional clue will be posted at 9am. Participants are to observe the high and low points of city-owned parks and trails in order to find the hidden medallion. They will have until 4pm on Friday, March 12th to recover it. “If the medallion is not found

by 4pm on Friday, March 12, the City of Cottage Grove reserves the right to discontinue the hunt and donate the prize to a local charity,” the city states on their webpage.

$200 is the prize in which this statement is referring to. To claim this reward, one will need to complete a series of tasks. First of all, they must discover the medallion. Upon finding it, they should capture a photo of themselves with the medallion at the location where it was situated. Finally, they will have the option to either dial 651-458-2800 or drive to Cottage Grove City Hall. Once the participant confirms that they are a resident of Cottage Grove, the $200 prize package will belong to them.

Due to the fact that there is only one medallion to pinpoint, only one party may win the $200. Even so, another prize is obtainable just by engaging in The 2021 Spring Medallion Hunt. To secure a chance of earning $50, one can share a photo of themselves scavenging for the medallion. These pictures should be forwarded via email to [email protected] A winner will be crowned at random.

If readers residing in Cottage Grove are attracted to The Spring Medallion Hunt, they may take part in it. Once again, the initial clue will be posted at 9am sharp on Monday, March 8th. They can interact with the following Facebook platforms on a regular basis to stay informed on the activity: City of Cottage Grove, City of Cottage Grove Parks and Recreation, City of Cottage Grove Fire Department, and City of Cottage Grove Police Department. In addition, the city’s official website will serve as a beneficial resource: https:// www.cottagegrovemn.gov/540/Medallion-Hunt.

As one considers partaking in The 2021 Spring Medallion Hunt, they should also take note of seven guidelines presented by the Parks and Recreation Department. First of all, hunters must respect the hours of Cottage Grove City-owned parks during their investigation. Search efforts for the medallion should only occur from 6am to 10:30pm. Next, people under the age of 18 are welcome to participate. However, they are required to claim the $200 prize with an adult. A final noteworthy rule is that vandalism of natural resources and structures is not necessary or permitted in Cottage Grove city-owned parks.
