Wolfpack girls work 4-3 tournament magic

Four-and-three was the magic number for the Park Wolfpack this week as the Wolfpack skated to three consecutive 4-3 victories and the New Hope Arena Holiday Tournament title in girls' hockey.
Park defeated St. Paul/Two Rivers, Hastings and Fergus Falls, each by a 403 score, to claim the tournament crown.
Park built a 3-1 lead after one period in the finals Saturday against Fergus Falls on three goals in a minute and a half by Josie Leonard (13:46), Addie Corkish (14:10) and Lauren Osland (15:15).
Ava Taschner made it a 4-1 Park lead in the second period.
Fergus Falls closed to within a goal in the third, but the Wolfpack held on for the win.
Junior goalie Alayna Adamez racked up another net win, stopping 19 of 22 shots for an .864-win rate in goal.
Park (8-7-1, 4-5) hosts Mounds View/Irondale (3-12-1, 0-8) Friday, Jan. 3 in a Suburban East Conference contest at Cottage Grove Ice Arena, starting at 7 p.m.
Park 4, Hastings 3
The Wolfpack skated to their fourth straight win with a 4-3 decision over Hastings Friday in the second round of the New Hope Arena Holiday Tournament.
Park led 4-1 after two periods, then held off a Hastings rally in the third to earn the victory.
Stella Daly scored twice for the Wolfpack. Alyssa Hill and Maleah McMorrow each added goals. Ava Taschner and Kyra Stofer recorded two assists each.
Park 4, St. Paul/Two Rivers 3
Park’s Maleah McMorrow scored three goals including the winning goal in overtime to lift the Wolfpack to a 4-3 win over St. Paul/Two Rivers in the first round of the New Hope Arena Holiday Tournament Thursday.
McMorrow’s game-winning goal came at the 6:53 mark of overtime as she scored on an even strength play with assists from Addie Corkish and Alaine Post.
Park trailed 3-1 after two periods before rallying in the third.
McMorrow also had goals in the second and third periods and an assist on Park’s other score, a goal by Josie Leonard at 15:01 of the third which sent the game into overtime. The Wolfpack outshot their opponents 37-17 in the third period.
