Wolfpack tennis team splits pair

Park split a pair of tennis matches Saturday, sweeping visiting Tartan 7-0, but falling to HP 6-1.

The Wolfpack cruised to a perfect match against Tartan, winning 14 straight sets.

Camila Brooks won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, Addie Corkish swept 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, Evie Johnson scored a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles and Alaina Post triumphed at No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-0.

Park’s No. 1 doubles team of Liv Evans and Chloe Newhouse won 6-0, 6-1; Keira Brennan and Alayna Adamez won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles and Lily Amburghey and Gaby Stepka scored a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 3 doubles. Bailey Ledman and Ashlyn Mullen breezed 6-0, 6-1 at the non-counting No. 4 doubles.

Park’s only winner against HP was at No. 1 singles where the team of Evans and Newhouse won 6-2, 6-1.


Espinoza-Garibay, Sanchez score for Park soccer
JJ Sanchez and Terry Espinoza-Garibay supplied the offense again as Park took a 2-1 decision from visiting Roseville Thursday in the Suburban East Conference opener.

Neither team scored in the first half, but Park found its offense after the break. Isaac Lor had an assist for the Wolfpack.

Ben Fee got the goalkeeping victory.

Park moved to 1-0 in the SEC and 3-2 on the season. Roseville remained winless, falling to 0-3-2.

Park hosts Cretin-Derham Hall (0-1, 3-0-2) Thursday with a 5 p.m. start.

Park 5, Apple Valley 2

Park had its best offensive game of the season in a 5-2 non-conference win at Apple Valley Tuesday.

Terry Espinoza-Garibay scored a hat trick with three goals in the game and JJ Sanchez added two goals and an assist. Anthony Escobedo had three assists for the Wolfpack and Devan Young one.

Ben Free got the win in goal.


Park girls go to 3-1-2 on the season
Park opened the Suburban East Conference season on a rainy Thursday night with a 0-0 tie against visiting Roseville.

It was Park’s second 0-0 tie of the season and snapped a three-game winning streak by the Wolfpack.

Park is now 3-1-2 on the season. Next up for the Wolfpack is a home game Thursday against a winless Cretin-Derham Hall team (0-5-0), starting at 7 p.m.

Park 2, Apple Valley 0

Park made it three straight non-conference wins with a 2-0 triumph at Apple Valley Tuesday.

Tea Alvarenga and Kylee Nickle scored the goals for the Wolfpack. Abby Moua recorded both assists.

Paige Stewart had two saves in goal.
