Scott J. Meyer, 47, Woodbury, was charged in Dakota County District Court on Thursday, June 15 with gross misdemeanor third-degree driving while impaired over 0.08 within two hours, and gross misdemeanor third-degree driving while impaired under the influence of alcohol.

On June 14 officers responded to two driving complaints in Vermillion Township. The complaints stated that a vehicle had driven into oncoming traffic and had hit two traffic cones. A license plate number and vehicle description were provided to officers. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Meyer, was observed to have an odor of consumed beverage, his face was red, and his eyes were bloodshot. Meyer admitted to having two drinks.

Meyer participated in the standardized field sobriety tests where he was unable to follow instructions, lost his balance, stopped while walking, stepped off the line, performed the incorrect number of steps, and failed to turn properly.

Meyer submitted to a preliminary breath test, which showed a result of 0.213 blood alcohol concentration. Meyer was arrested and transported to the Dakota County Jail. Meyer indicated he wanted to speak to an attorney before taking the DataMaster breath test. Results showed 0.19 blood alcohol concentration. Meyer was booked into the Dakota County Jail.
