Beginner and Advanced Archery camp registration is now open. Provided through Cottage Grove Parks and Rec, both programs utilize National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) curriculum. Participants will learn new skills and potentially create a lifetime hobby. Archers must wear tennis shoes, snug clothing around the chest and arms, and no jewelry. Long hair should be tied back. All equipment will be provided. Please bring a water bottle.
Beginner Archery Camp is June 11, 13, 18 and 20, and Advanced Archery Camp is July 9, 11, 16 and 18. Ages 8–15 are welcome to register. Both programs run from 10–11:15 a.m. and are located at Pine Tree Pond Archery Range. The cost is $65 per program participant.
Beginner Archery Camp is designed to introduce youth to the sport of Archery. Archers will shoot at targets 15-20 yards out on the flat range, learning proper shooting techniques, range safety, eye dominance, and consistency.
A prerequisite for Advanced Archery Camp is previous attendance in Beginner Archery. The Advanced Archery Camp will expand on the lessons learned in Beginner Archery. Archers will test their skills at 25-30 yards on the upper range, shooting in an elevated/wooded setting. Archers will track their own scores, documenting their progression. Session 3 will include 3D archery targets. Session 4 will be a final, scored shooting competition to determine an archery champion.
