Anna M. Burke, 43, Cottage Grove, was charged in Dakota County on March 22 with felony controlled substance crime in the fifth degree.
On Dec. 2, 2022, Inver Grove Heights police on patrol near Robert Trail South noticed a vehicle idling in a business parking lot with an individual slumped over in the driver’s seat. According to the complaint, officers approached the vehicle and tapped on the window, waking up the driver, Burke.
“She said she stopped to sleep and use the restroom at the business,” the complaint said.
Officers smelled marijuana coming from inside the vehicle while speaking with Burke. She admitted to having a small amount of marijuana inside the vehicle.
During a search of the vehicle, officers found a marijuana joint and a green bag containing 12.9 grams of methamphetamine. Burke has a prior conviction. A court summons was issued.
