The Washington County Board of Commissioners met Feb. 10 at the Government Center in Stillwater. Among actions taken were two approvals, one of a raffle application for the Disabled Veterans Rest Camp and another of a $1,000 donation to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
As to the first, the Washington County Board approved an exempt permit of Minnesota lawful gambling from Disabled Veterans Rest Camp Inc.
The application is for conducting a raffle on May 25, 2026, at 11300 180th Street North, in May Township.
Minnesota state law requires County Board approval by resolution of permits for organizations to conduct off-site gambling within townships. The County Auditor reviewed the application, and the applicant met the requirements to conduct raffle activities. The approved application will now be sent to the State Gambling Board for consideration.
As for the second, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a $1,000 donation from a county resident, approved by the County Board Feb. 10.
Sheriff’s Office deputies, along with Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel, provide on-scene support and lifesaving measures. Cynthia Young, a county resident, has expressed her appreciation for the professionalism and compassion shown by deputies and offered the $1,000 donation.
The donation will be used to support employee wellness programs and community engagement events.
