Glide atop the water at Square Lake Park by signing up for up to four different stand up paddleboarding programs this summer.
Stand up paddleboarding (SUP) is a popular water sport that combines elements of surfing and paddling, offering a unique experience on the water. Participants stand (or sit or kneel) on a solid epoxy or inflatable plastic board, resembling a surfboard. They use a paddle to propel themselves through the water. If you’re considering getting into SUP, Washington County offers three fun experiences.
Learn to Paddleboard
New to paddleboarding? This 75-minute, beginner-friendly class is the perfect place to start. Learn the basics, build confidence on the water, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Square Lake. Our instructor from Brown Dog Paddleboard Co. will guide you at a comfortable pace so you can feel steady and at ease. All equipment and instructions are provided. The cost is $50 per person, per session. Classes may be cancelled in the event of inclement weather.

• Tuesday, June 9, 7-8:15 p.m.
• Tuesday, July 14, 7-8:15 p.m.
• Saturday, Aug. 1, 9-10:15 a.m.
Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga
Take your yoga practice to the water. Enjoy the peacefulness of yoga, refine your techniques, and feel rejuvenated while breathing in the views from Square Lake. Each participant is fitted with equipment, and a brief introduction to SUP is provided in this 75-minute yoga program. The cost is $50 per person.

Sunset Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga
As the sun begins to set, enjoy gentle movement and mindful stillness on a paddleboard. Each participant is fitted with equipment, and a brief introduction to SUP is provided in this 75-minute program. The cost is $50 per person.

• Tuesday, July 28, 7-8:15 p.m.
Full Moon Stand Up Paddleboard
Paddle across Square Lake and watch the full moon rise during this 90-minute experience. At dusk, participants will launch right into the setting sun. On the opposite side of the lake, watch the full moon rise and sit or lie on the board and take in the night sky. All equipment and lanterns are included. The cost is $75 per person.

• Friday, Aug. 28, 7:45-9:15 p.m.
For all Washington County Parks’ SUP programs, registration is required. Participants must be 14 or older and able to swim. All minors must be accompanied by a registered adult. No experience is necessary, and all equipment is provided by Brown Dog Paddleboard Co. A valid vehicle permit ($7 day pass or $30 annual pass) is required.
