A structure fire Friday, Jan. 16 in the 7600 Lawton Avenue South drew multiple fire departments. Cottage Grove Police evacuated the family after arriving on scene.
The fire was reported around 8:09 p.m. according to Cottage Grove Fire chief Jon Pritchard, starting in the garage and spreading quickly to the house as wind conditions combined with cold temperatures, ice, and location made for complex water operations.
There were no firefighter or occupant injuries.
Among departments responding to the Friday fire were Cottage Grove Fire, Newport, St. Paul Park, Woodbury, Hastings, Lake Elmo, Lower St. Croix Valley, South Metro, Inver Grove Heights, Oakdale, Bayport, Stillwater, Mahtomedi, Maplewood, North St. Paul, Eagan, Mendota Heights, White Bear Lake, and Rosemount Fire Departments along with M Health EMS and the State Fire Marshal's Office.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation with the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
