Park hosted Suburban Eastern Conference power Woodbury Saturday afternoon and fell by a 7-0 decision.

Woodbury opened the game strongly, taking a 4-0 lead in the first period. It was 6-0 after two periods.

The Royals had 33 shots to 22 for Park.

Park slipped to 2-8 in the SEC and 7-11 on the season. Woodbury went to 10-1 in the conference and 16-1-1 overall.

Roseville/Mahtomedi 5, Park 4 (OT)

Park’s stretch of tough luck continued Tuesday as the Wolfpack battled back from a 4-1 deficit in the second period, only to lose to visiting Roseville/Mahtomedi 5-4 in overtime.

It was also Park’s second straight loss in overtime and the Wolfpack’s third loss in four games, each by a single goal.

Roseville took advantage of a Park tripping penalty in the overtime, winning on a power play goal 3:49 into the period.

“Tough loss,” agreed Park head coach Bay Shock. “I thought we played really well. At 4-to-1 we could have folded the tent and said that’s it. And I give them credit, heck of a second period and then the third period to tie it up.

“That was probably one of our best games,” Shock added. “I’m so happy that we came back. I’ve seen us say that’s enough. And we finally got four goals, we’ve been scoring one goal a game so a lot of positives.”

To add injury to insult, Park lost starting goalie Aubree Laska to a knee injury just 26 seconds into the game. Alayna Adamez went the rest of the way.

“So, we had to put Adamez in and she played a heck of a game,” Shock said.

The Wolfpack looked down and out when the team trailed the visitors 4-1 early in the second period. But the Wolfpack stormed back on goals by Stella Daly, Maggie Jensen and Natalie Post.

Park again had trouble creating scoring opportunities. When the Wolfpack cut Roseville’s lead to 4-2 in the second period, they still had just seven shots on goal. Roseville ended up outshooting the Wolfpack 28-14. But the shots the Wolfpack attempted, a lot of them counted.

Ava Taschner had Park’s other goal, an even strength score in the first period. Addie Corkish, Sam Miller and Alyssa Hill had assists for the Wolfpack Tuesday.

Park plays at Forest Lake Thursday, Jan. 18, with a 6 p.m. start.
