The Washington County Historical Society (WCHS) is excited to the short film by filmmaker Paul Creager about local brewery history at the Lift Bridge Brewery taproom located at 1900 Tower Drive West, Stillwater. The event will be from 5pm to 9pm and it is free to everyone.
The Lift Bridge Brewery started Townie Tuesdays to give back to local organizations. Each tap beer or seltzer purchased, $1 will go to that specific organization for that evening. It is a fun way to give back to your community.
The short film, “Suds on the St. Croix,” by Paul Creager, shows the great history of brewing in the St. Croix Valley. Starting with the Knipp Brewery then Joseph Wolf and Frank Aiple to the craft breweries of today – the people of the St. Croix Valley had some of the finest brews in the Northwest. The film was made for the current display at the Washington County Heritage Center of the same name.
At one time, half of the buildings in downtown Stillwater contained a saloon. Those days have passed but the history of the saloons continue in the pages of the St. Croix Valley history. “This is a great opportunity not only to learn about the past,” said Brent Peterson, WCHS Executive Director, “but also learn about the future of brewing at the Lift Bridge Brewery on November 25th.”
