The Cottage Grove Public Safety Department has recognized Officer Mackenzie Foster as its Employee of the Quarter, citing her leadership, initiative and dedication to both the department and the community during the first half of 2026.
In announcing the recognition, the department highlighted Foster's work in training, crisis response and traffic safety, as well as the positive relationships she has built with residents.
According to the department, Foster has demonstrated outstanding performance across multiple areas of responsibility throughout the year. As a Use of Force Instructor, she provides training for department personnel and recruits in the New Hire Academy. She also co-founded a monthly regional Women's Use of Force training program with a Woodbury police officer, expanding professional development opportunities for officers from surrounding law enforcement agencies.
The department also recognized Foster's role as a member of its Crisis Management Unit and Crisis Support Team, where she manages critical caseloads, responds to call-outs and works with regional partners to incorporate best practices into local operations.
In her primary assignment as the department's daytime traffic safety officer, Foster has earned praise from residents through phone calls and community surveys, according to the announcement. The department said community members have consistently commended her professionalism, compassion and positive attitude.
Police officials said Foster's willingness to go above and beyond her regular duties has made her an exemplary representative of the department.
"Officer Foster's strong work ethic and willingness to go above and beyond make her an exemplary representative of our department," the department said in its announcement. "Please join us in thanking Officer Foster for her outstanding service and congratulating her on this well-deserved recognition."
The Employee of the Quarter recognition honors department employees who demonstrate exceptional performance and make significant contributions to the organization and the community it serves.
