Schilling, Darling pace swim and dive team

Ethyn Schilling won the diving and Mason Darling finished first in the breaststroke to highlight Park’s efforts in a swim and dive meet Tuesday at Woodbury.

Schilling led a 1-2-3 Park finish in the 1-meter diving. He was first with 184.20 points. Carter Darling was second with 179.25 and Trey Jaso third with 134.60.

Darling won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:02.67 and was second in the 200-yard IM in 2:06.60.

Parker Jeseritz was second in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:00.17 and second in the 100-yard freestyle in 53.36. Jack Schweigert was second in the 200-yard IM in 2:06.60 and second in the breaststroke in 1:06.27. Logan Schweigert was second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:02.19.

Lalee Yang took third in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.47 and was fourth in the butterfly in 1:02.89. Ethan Cole as third in the 100 freestyle in 56.92. Morgan Byrnes finished fourth in the 500-yard freestyle in 6:50.47.

The host Royals won the meet 95-80.

Park was second in the 200-yard medley relay with the team of Jeseritz, Darling, Logan and Jack Schweigert finishing in 1:47.29. The Wolfpack team of Jack Schweigert, Yang, Cole and Darling finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:39.99. The 400-yarf freestyle team of Logan Schweigert, Cole, Yang and Jeseritz finished swam a 3:43.73 race.

Park hosts East Ridge in another conference meet on Thursday, Jan. 4, starting at 6 p.m.

Wolfpack wrestling team drops a pair

Park dropped a pair of decisions in Suburban East Conference wrestling Thursday, falling to White Bear Lake 36-22 and to host Stillwater 47-26.

Kyler Jubinal (10-1), Landen Brooks (SV-1 4-2), Zack Carr (16-6), Dylan Richardson (6-4) and Samuel Lankow (pin 1:03) had wins for Park against Stillwater.

Dahlstrom scores season bests in gymnastics

Emily Dahlstrom won the floor and the beam competition to lead the Park High gymnastics team in a dual meet Thursday at Stillwater.

Dahlstrom scored an 8.950 on the floor and an 8.850 on the beam to win both events. She finished second in the all-around with a season’s best score of 34.250, placed second on the bars (7.950) and fourth in the vault (8.500). Her beam score was also her best of the season so far.

The host Ponies won the dual meet, 135.225 to 127.950. Liberty Quast edged Dahlstrom for the all-around title with a score of 34.950.

Park’s Natalya Rugel was sixth in the all-around with a score of 31.675. Clara Opichka finished seventh in the all-around (31.550), Ashley Davis was eighth (29.600) and Natalie Peters 10th (15.075).

Rugel had a second-place finish on the vault with an 8.550 and placed sixth on the floor with an 8.200. Opichka scored an 8.4 to finish fifth on the beam and had a 7.125 on the bars.

Blasy signs with St. Thomas

Park High School senior linebacker Taran Blasy signed a letter of intent to play football at the University of St. Thomas.

A 6-1 middle linebacker, Blasy was a three year starter at Park and earned All-District, All-Conference and MVP honors during his prep career. He was a 6A Preseason Player of the Year nominee and voted team captain of both the football and track and field team. During his senior season, Blasy recorded 73 tackles, four forced fumbles, four fumble returns, 141 all-purpose yards and one touchdown.

Off the field, he was an MSHSL EXCEL Award winner, Academic All-Section honoree and a member of multiple clubs.

The St. Thomas class of 20 recruits included eight Minnesotans and 12 from other states. Along with Blasy, heading to St. Thomas are Charlie Bern of East Ridge and Quentin Cobb-Butler of Woodbury.

Dance team finishes seventh

Park’s dance team finished seventh in the Suburban East Conference Championships held Dec. 16 at Irondale High School.

Park scored 21 points in the jazz category. Forest Lake won the jazz section with 3 points.

The Park team was disqualified in the high kick category.
