Park girls go 2-1 in hockey tournament

Park won its second game in three days to wrap up a 2-1 week in the New Hope Arena Holiday Tournament Saturday afternoon.

The Wolfpack led from start to finish and powered past Bloomington Jeferson 5-2.

Madi Brinkman got Park going with a goal in the first period and another in the second. Kyra Stoffer made it a 3-0 lead with a short-handed score at the end of the second period.

Bloomington Jefferson scored twice to open the third and close the gap to 3-2, but Park finished it off with goals from Paige Stewart and Addie Corkish.

Goalie Aubree Laska stopped 16 of 18 shots for an. 889 success rate.

Park doubled up the shots on goal against Jefferson, 36-18.

Park improved its season record to 7-8. Jefferson slipped to 5-10.

Saturday, Park (6-8) vs. Bloomington Jefferson at New Hope Ice Arena Holiday Tournament, 1 p.m.

Robbinsdale Armstrong/Cooper 4, Park 3

Park lost a 4-3 decision in overtime to Robbinsdale Armstrong/Cooper on the second day o the New Hope Arena Holiday Tournament Friday evening.

Park led 2-1 after the second period but were outscored 2-1 in the third to force overtime, and then dropped a 1-0 decision in the extra period.

Lauren Osland and Addie Corkish staked the Wolfpack to a 2-0 lead in the second. Natalie Post then made it a 3-1 advantage for the Wolfpack with an even strength goal early in the third. But the Wolfpack couldn’t hang on for the win.

Park 4, St. Paul/Two Rivers 0

Park scored its most lopsided win of the season Thursday in a 4-0 victory over St. Paul/Two Rivers in the first round of the New Hope Ice Arena Holiday Tournament.

The Wolfpack outshot their opponents a whopping 34-13 in the contest, with Natalie Post, Claire Berling, Alaina Post and Alyssa Hill all scoring a goal apiece.

Josie Leonard, Alaina Post, Lauren Osland had assists for Park.

Aubree Laska earned the shutout win in the net.

The Wolfpack are back in Suburban East Conference action Saturday with a home game against Mounds View/Irondale (2-7-1, 4-9-1), starting at 3 p.m.

Wolfpack girls tumble to Eastview, Rosemount

Park lost to Eastview 76-40 in the second round of the Rosemount High School Holiday Tournament Friday afternoon.

The Wolfpack slipped to 2-8 on the season, while Eastview improved to 7-3.

Rosemount 80, Park 31

Host and eighth-ranked Rosemount ran roughshod over the visiting Park Wolfpack Thursday, winning 80-31 in girls' basketball.

The Irish (8-2) led 44-21 at the half and kept pouring it on in the second, outcoming the Wolfpack 36-10 after the break.

Junior guard Hailey Kieffer led Park with 8 points, senior guard Tori Henderson had 7 and junior guard Tenley Nelson 6.

Park (2-8, 1-4) returns to Suburban East Conference action Friday, playing at rival East Ridge (5-5, 3-2) Friday, Jan. 5, starting at 7 p.m.
