Darling, divers, pace Wolfpack swim and dive team
Park’s Mason Darling won both the 100-yard freestyle in a speedy 52.61 and the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:05.93 to highlight the Wolfpack’s efforts against visiting East Ridge in boys swimming Thursday.
Carter Darling (183.75 points) and Ethyn Schilling (181.80) finished first and second in 1-meter diving.
East Ridge edged Park for the team title, 91-87.
Park was second in the 200-yad medley relay with the team of Parker Jeseritz, Mason Darling, Lalee Yang and Logan Schweigert finishing in a time of 1:48.55. The Wolfpack team of Jack Schweigert, Damion Charpentier, Logan Schweigert and Mason Darling took second in the 200-freestyle relay in 1:41.01. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Park’s team of Yang, Jack Schweigert, Charpentier and Jeseritz clocked a 3:47.26 time.
Park’s Parker Jeseritz clocked a time of 59.41 to gain first in the 100-yard backstroke.
Jack Schweigert was second in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:57.70. Damion Charpentier finished second in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:35.17. Logan Schweigert placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:08.76.
Yang placed third in the 200-yard IM (2:21.25). Jeseritz was third in the 100-yard butterfly (58.61). Logan Schweigert was fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (25.69). Tyler Cracauer was fourth in the 500 freestyle (6:05.43).
Park swims at Roseville on Thursday, Jan. 11, then competes in a six-team invitational at Two Rivers High School on Saturday.
Brooks scores two wins in girls wrestling
Park’s Shyanne Brooks recorded a pair of pins against Forest Lake opponents Thursday.
Brooks pinned Pauline Muller of Forest Lake in 4:52 at 118 pounds, then did the same to Remington Jurkovich in 4:06.
Ella Hammergren of Park dropped a close 10-9 decision to Nikolai Milosevic at 130 pounds and lost by a fall to Madison Hudella in 4:12.
Mounds View slips by Park girls in overtime
Visiting Mounds View took a 2-1 decision in overtime over the host Park Wolfpack in girls hockey Saturday afternoon.
Mounds View led 1-0 with a goal late in the first period. After a scoreless second and most of the third, Park knotted the game up on an even strength score by Maleah McMorrow at 16:59 in the third period. Lauren Osland had the assist on the goal.
But Mounds View got the game winner 4:02 in the overtime.
Park outshot the visitors 29-25.
The Wolfpack slipped to 2-6 in the Suburban East Conference and 7-9 on the season. Mounds View improved to 3-7-1 and 5-10-1.
Park returns to the ice for a home game against Woodbury Saturday, Jan. 13, starting at 3 p.m.
Wolfpack drops two in girls basketball
Park fell in a 70-49 contest at Rochester Century Saturday in the Southern Minnesota Hoops Fest.
The loss dropped Park to 2-10 on the season.
It was Park’s fourth straight loss after two wins in mid-December and the fourth straight game the Wolfpack have given up 70 points or more.
East Ridge 73, Park 41
Host East Ridge (4-2, 6-5) outscored the visiting Wolfpack 38-19 in the first half en route to a 73-41 win in Suburban East Conference girls basketball Friday.
Hailey Kiefer scored 20 points for Park, Olivia Czarnota had 9 and Tenley Nelson 6.
Park returns to Suburban East Conference play Wednesday, Jan. 10, with a game at league leading White Bear Lake (6-0, 9-4), the hosts Roseville (4-2, 7-2) Friday, Jan. 12.
