Mason Darling had a hand in three wins as the Park swim and dive team swam past host Roseville Thursday, winning 100-85.

Darling won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:57.20 and was second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:02.49.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Logan Schweigert, Jack Schweigert, Darling and Parker Jeseritz won in a time of 1:50.23. In the 400-yard freestyle relay it was Park’s Darling, Jack Schweigert, Logan Schweigert and Ethan Cole finishing first in 3:38.39.

Logan Schweigert finished first in the 200-yard IM in 2:14.44.

The Schweigerts went 1-2 in the 500 freestyle, Jack winning in 5:27.40 and Logan finishing second in 5:34.81.

Damion Charpentier took second in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:02.67. Cole was second in the 200 freestyle in 2:04.21 and second in the 100 freestyle in 55.97. Jeseritz was second in the 200 IM in 2:14.88 and second in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:14.10. Jack Schweigert placed second in the 50-yard freestyle in 24.64. Ethyn Schilling was second in the diving with 178.55 points and Carter Darling third with 154.75.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Jeseritz, Charpentier, Lalee Yang and Cole placed second in 1:43.03. Park’s team of Hayden Bonner, Carter Darling, Morgan Byrnes and Alex Baraibar finished third in the race in 1:56.33,

Park hosts White Bear Lake Thursday, Jan. 18, at Cottage Grove Middle School, starting at 6 p.m.

Boys hockey team bounces back with 3-2 win over Cretin

After a tough loss Thursday at league-leading White Bear Lake, the Park Wolfpack bounced back with a big win Saturday, edging Cretin-Derham Hall 3-2 at Highland Arena.

Jackson Rudh powered in back-to-back goals in the first 10 minutes of the opening period to stake the Wolfpack to a quick 2-0 lead. Cretin closed it to 2-1 six minutes later. The two scores were Rudh’s 16th and 17th of the season.

Gavin Moss then scored for Park at 7:09 in the second period and that was all the offense the Wolfpack needed. Caden Schwartz, Owen Corkish and Adam Friermann had assists in the game.

Park goalie Aidan Miller stopped 22 of 24 shots on goal for a .917 success rate. Cretin outshot the Wolfpack 24-19.

The Wolfpack improved to 5-3 in the Suburban East Conference and 8-6 on the season. Cretin dropped to 5-3 in the conference and 7-6 overall.

White Bear Lake 3, Park 2

Conference leaders White Bear Lake rallied from a 2-0 deficit early in the second period to edge visiting Park 3-2 in Suburban East Conference boys hockey at TCO Sports Garden Thursday.

Owen Corkish gave Park a 1-0 lead on an even strength goal in the first period, with assists to Wyatt Beaurline and Gavin Moss.

Jackson Gear then scored his first goal of the season to make ti a 2-0 advantage for the Wolfpack just 36 seconds into the second period.

White Bear Lake cut the lead to 2-1 12 minutes later then won it with a 2-0 third period.

The loss snapped a three-game Park winning streak.

White Bear Lake improved to 7-1 in the SEC and 8-3-1 overall.

Park tangles with archrival East Ridge (0-5-2, 2-10-2) Thursday, Jan. 18, at Cottage Grove Ice Arena, with a 7:30 p.m. start. The Wolfpack dispatched the Raptors 4-0 in the first meeting this season back on Dec. 7.

David-led Park gymnasts score a 136.000

Park’s gymnasts recorded their top score of the season so far, earning a 136.000 in the Lajeville Invite Saturday.

Park’s Ashley Davis was 19th in the all-around with a score of 35.200. Clara Opichka was 32nd (33.900), Emily Dahlstrom 33rd (33.850), Natalya Rugel 39th (32.900), Natalie Peters 67th (23.800).

Davis led Park with a score of 9.3 on the vault, finishing 11th overall. Dahlstrom and Rugel both scored a 9.200 on the vault, Opichka an 8.8 and Peters an 8.4.

Davis also topped the Wolfpack with her bars, routine, scoring an 8.450. Opichka had an 8.1, Rugel a 7.350, while Peters and Dahlstrom each had 7.250 scores.

On the beam, Opichka’s 8.450 paced Park. Davis scored an 8.400, Ruby Igl an 8.200, Dahlstrom an 8.150 and Rugel am 8.050.

Dahlstrom saved her best event for floor, leading Park with a 9.250 and finishing 19th Davis had a 9.050 on floor, Opichka an 8,550, Rugel an 8.300 and Peters an 8.150.

Park finished 13th out of 16 teams competing. Owatonna and Lakeville South tied for the team title with scores of 146.250. Elk-Zimmerman was third with a 145.700. Stillwater was fourth with a 143.800 and East Ridge finished sixth with a 141.850.

Park competes at Forest Lake Wednesday, Jan. 17, then hosts a star-studded 14-team invitational Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. Set to compete in the invitational are top-ranked Lakeville South, No. 5 Wayzata, No. 10 Stillwater, No. 11 Rosemount and No. 18 White Bear Lake.
