Delayed a week for weather, Highway 61 from 70th Street down to Highway 10 will see a concrete repair project starting May 2 and continuing through May 26. Southbound traffic on Highway 61 will be reduced to one lane from May 2 through May 15, with northbound traffic on Highway 61 reduced to one lane from May 15 to May 26. Also of note for local road work, the intersection of Jamaica Avenue and East Point Douglas will see an overhaul to address its overall congestion and functionality. The city awarded a contract back in March to Meyer Contracting, Inc. of Maple Grove for the intersection in south Cottage Grove. Private utility work at the intersection began April 21, with full construction in the northbound lanes of Jamaica Avenue set to begin on May 2. Drivers can expect both lane closures and lane shifts as the work to improve the intersection at Jamaica and East Point Douglas progresses.
