America’s Love Affair with the Automobile

Historian George Schire, of Oakdale, will be the featured speaker for the Washington County Historical Society Annual Meeting on Thursday, March 19th at the Stillwater Event Center.
Schire, who is the current treasurer of the Washington County Historical Society, will discuss the love affair that America has had with the automobile over the decades which has been hot, lukewarm and even cold, but the one thing is certain, cars are a part of who we are. George will take the attendees on a highway of historical facts and hilarious anecdotes featuring the cars that have shaped all of our lives.
Buckle up your seat belts and mark your calendars for this nostalgic road trip from the Horseless Carriage to present day EV’s.
The dinner meeting will be at the Stillwater Event Center, 1910 S. Greeley Street – next door to the Washington County Heritage Center on Thursday March 19th. The event is open to the public and the cost is $25 for WCHS members and $30 for nonmembers. The evening will begin at 5:30 with a social hour, dinner catered by Scheel’s Catering at 6:30 and the annual meeting will be at 7:30. Mr. Schire's presentation will start shortly after the meeting.
Seating is limited and organizers expect a large attendance. Reservations are required in advance.
