Dallas Leonard Lloyd, 37, Woodbury, was charged in Dakota County District court on March 22 with felony check forgery make or alter over $250 up to $2,500.
On Oct. 1, 2022, the Woodbury Police Department launched an investigation into a check theft/forgery after a reporting party received an overdraft notice from his bank. The reporting party received an overdraft alert on Oct. 1, 2022. They learned that two checks were altered and cashed causing their account to overdraft. One check had been altered to be written out to Lloyd and was for $2,400. This check was cashed on Sept. 30, 2022, at a bank in West Saint Paul.
Surveillance footage and bank records were obtained which confirmed that Lloyd had cashed the altered check. The reporting party said they had originally written the check to someone else, for a different amount, and put it in their mailbox. A court summons was issued.
