This was a winnable game which got away from the Park Wolfpack.
Visiting Roseville edged the Cottage Grove hosts Monday evening, winning a 4-2 game that actually came down to the final minute of play. Park trailed 3-2 heading into the end of the game, had a shot at tying it bounce long, then watched as one of the Roseville players took the length of the field for a game-clinching score.
It was a tough loss, said Park head coach Andrew Bourgoine.
“We lost 6-0 this year and we played worst tonight than we did against a Rosemount team we lost 6-0 to,” said Bourgoine. “It wasn’t a good night for us. We just didn’t play how we did the night before. Against Mounds View.
“We weren’t going to balls. The 50-50 balls were won by Roseville the whole night,” Bourgoine added. “We had 15 corners and 10 free kicks and nobody went for the ball. No one wanted to score tonight. That was the whole big thing. Balls bounced and no one got them. We had tons of shots, no one wanted to finish them off at the end.”
Park improved to 3-1 on the season with a 3-0 win Sept. 5 at Apple Valley. The Wolfpack broke a scoreless tie at the half with a trio of second-half scores.
Ayub Mohamed, Killian Krech and Leo Eiden-Giel each scored for Park after intermission. Carter Geisen blocked five Apple Valley shots to earn the win in the net.
Park suffered a 2-0 road loss at Mounds View Thursday.
Park, now 3-3-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the Suburban East Conference, plays at East Ridge Wednesday afternoon, then has a non-conference contest at home against Eastview Saturday, starting at 7 p.m.
