Dance team season will certainly look different this year, thanks to Covid-19 restrictions. All dancers — both jazz and kick — will be wearing masks when they perform this season. “I think the biggest impact will come in how we can convey emotions and really “perform” with a mask on,” said Park head coach Rachel Reinert. “We are always working on facials and connecting with our performance so that will be a change on the floor this year.”

Top dancers returning for Park will be senior captains Nevaeh Long and Alyssa Phillip. The team’s other two captains are juniors Allison Lenz and Aliyah Thomas. It will be a veteran Wolfpack team with no new athletes this season, only returning dancers. “We are excited to be back in person and are looking forward to competing,” Reinert said. “We set seasonal goals to perform and score better than we did the season prior. We challenge ourselves to continue competing against ourselves and improve as an organization.”

Park will compete against conference teams in five different meets this season, with no home meets for the Wolfpack. The first meet is Jan. 21 at Forest Lake. Park will dance at Woodbury on Feb. 4 and at East Ridge on Feb. 11. “We are hoping to see some other local teams in other meets throughout the season,” said Reinert.

Section and state meets are not scheduled yet (as of Jan. 6) but coaches are anticipating they will be scheduled soon.
