MoveMindfully event to feature Kathy Flaminio as speaker
By Joseph Back
Are you a woman in business feeling worn out and stressed?
It could be time to move mindfully. Coming to the City Hall Training Room on July 15 from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. with doors opening at 7:45 a.m., is an event to help you destress and learn ways of connecting the different dimensions (physical-emotional-mental) of being human, as well as coping strategies.
Kathy Flaminio, founder of Move Mindfully as a company dedicated to the science of mindfulness and social emotional learning, will give a workshop to attendees at the July 15 event. Flaminio is a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) with a Masters in Social Work (MSW) as well as being a registered yoga teacher and adjunct faculty at St. Mary’s University. The event in the City Hall Training Room will focus in part on the connection between physical, emotional, and mental dimensions of humanity and how each of these impact us as individuals. Flaminio has trained over 60,000 professionals in the techniques to be shared and is co-author of Moving Mountains: An Integrative Manual to Help Youth with Intensity, Reactivity and Anxiety, as well as the Teen Resiliency Program with doctors Henry Emmons and Timothy Culbert, with associates.
Participants can expect to walk away with a simple mind-body tool kit to merge with their private and professional lives. Flaminio With meetings held the third Friday of each month, interested parties may contact Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce president Laurie Levine at [email protected] for more information.
Registrants are encouraged to bring a mug of coffee, name tag, and business cards, with snacks provided. The yearly admission fee for the event is $75 for a Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce member, $150 for non-Chamber members, or $20 per individual meeting for a non-member—and free to first-time guests. Don’t forget to RSVP for the July 15 event and bring a guest to get your name entered in a drawing!
Lastly, participants should know that photos may be taken and be shared on social media of the event.
