Lets discuss river access
Dear Editor, There is one thing the city of Cottage Grove has been lacking for quite some time: abundant river access to the Mississippi River. As the Mississippi Dunes golf course property goes into iterative rounds of development proposals, it’s increasingly important for residents of Cottage Grove, Grey Cloud Island(s) and surrounding communities to weigh-in on development plans that may or may not include public parkland or access to the river. Follow along as the park commission meets and plans are reviewed by city council. What would residents of the area like to see in a potential riverfront park, what size and what other residential or ecological factors are there to consider with a waterfront property located on the Mississippi River and next to Grey Cloud Island? Send comments and letters to your local representatives and follow along at the local Mississippi Dunes Cottage Grove social media group for updates.
