The Lions organization will host a Community Service Saturday to benefit the community through volunteerism and service projects.

Taking place Saturday, April 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the event to take place on the historic Furber Farm in Cottage Grove will include several project activities.

“We have 10 to 11 projects going on,” Lions District Governor Judy Zewers said of the event this Saturday and help to local organizations. Each activity will benefit a different partner organization in the larger community.

The Kids Fleece Blankets, for instance, will go to an organization called “Sleep in Heavenly Peace,” while dog toys will go to the Animal Humane Society. Among the many activities for Saturday are the following:

• Making after school snack bags and activity bags for cancer patients

• Diabetes Hypoglycemia kits

• Dog toys

• Kids fleece blankets

• Kidsight vision screening, and

• “Save the Bees” seed balls

With the event at the Furber Farm hosted by the Lions Clubs of District 5M6 spanning Washington, Ramsey, and Dakota counties, members of the general public are welcome as well. Attendees are asked to RSVP at https://www.lions5m-6.org/events-1/community-service-saturday if they want lunch.

“That’s my head count,” Zewers said of RSVP and preparing lunch.

Now in its first year, the Community Service Saturday looks to benefit the larger community through coming together for service and volunteerism, true to the Lions motto of “We Serve.”
