Hastings fire was called to the intersection of 117th St. S. and Oakgreen Ave. S. for a residential fire Monday around noon. The home at 11655 Oakgreen Avenue South had a fire start in what appeared to be the lower-level garage. Given the location of the home, additional crews from St. Paul Park, Woodbury and Cottage Grove were called to provide assistance. The fire was put out with no injuries to the homeowners or first responders.

The Journal reached out to the homeowners for comment. Understandably, they were quite busy trying to make sense of everything and waiting for insurance to arrive, so the request for an official interview was initially refused. They did confirm that there was no one injured in the fire and they were thankful the fire departments responded so quickly.

Limited information is known at this point as to what was damaged and how the fire started and it is still under investigation.
