Park continues to struggle putting the ball into the back of the net as the Wolfpack dropped a pair of contests last week, losing 3-0 to ninth-ranked Woodbury on Tuesday, Sept. 20, and then 1-0 at White Bear Lake on Thursday, Sept. 22.
Host Park lost a 3-0 decision to visiting Woodbury (5-1-3) Tuesday in boys’ soccer.
The two teams battled to a scoreless first half, but the Royals found the back of the net three times after the break.
“I think we played fine,” said Park head coach Andrew Bourgoine. “That’s a really good team over there. They just tied the No. 2 team in the state in Wayzata 1-1 on Saturday. This is a really good team. I think they’re going to compete against (top-ranked) Stillwater for the section title and the conference title too, they’re that good.
“But I thought we played better,” Bourgoine added. “We played better than we did over the weekend where we lost 8-to-1. We just weren’t ready to play. We switched defensive formations, we switched to a sweeper-stopper role instead of a flat line and I think that helped us a little more. We gave up a few goals that we didn’t want to, but that’s how it goes. *Goalie) Cole West was really good tonight. He came back tonight and made some good saves.”
Park slipped to 0-4-1 in the Suburban East Conference and 2-7-2 on the season.
The Wolfpack host Forest Lake (0-4-1, 1-9-1) Tuesday, Sept. 27, in a game starting at 7:00 p.m.
