With the temperature dipping into the sixties Monday, it felt a lot like fall sports season, and indeed it was.

Fall sports practices got under way in earnest on Monday with hundreds of Cottage Grove-area athletes learning new skills, eliminating bad habits and renewing old acquaintances.

Park High School sports teams will all start competitions in the next two weeks.

Park’s girls' tennis team will kick off the fall sports season with a match Tuesday, Aug. 22 against Tartan. Park volleyball will be at a six-team scrimmage (Park, Minneapolis South, Minnehaha Academy, Nova Classical Academy and St. Paul Humbolt) at host Two Rivers that Tuesday.

Thursday, Aug. 24, will be a busy day for Park athletes. The cross country teams will run at Lake Elmo Park Reserve Thursday afternoon. Volleyball will scrimmage at Hastings that same day. The Wolfpack swimmers and divers will be at Stillwater for the conference relays. Both Park boys' and girls' soccer teams will host Bloomington Jefferson Aug. 24.

Park’s football team will host a four-team scrimmage Saturday morning, Aug. 26 with Hastings, Cretin-Derham Hall, Anoka and the hosts participating. The first counting varsity football game will be at archrival East Ridge on Aug. 31.

Park High School fall sports previews will run in The Cottage Grove Journal the next two weeks.
