Girls’ soccer team ends regular season with 9-0 triumph All season long Park has been waiting for a game like this.

Senior Megan Korth had four goals and two assist and Park blasted host Irondale 9-0 in a Suburban East Conference soccer match Thursday. The nine goals the Wolfpack scored were just one short of the total the Wolfpack had coming into the contest.

“It was a great team win last night,” said Park head coach Stacy Paleen. “We have been making tweaks to our offense this week and the girls have started to find success.”

“Megan Korth had four goals and two assists,” Paleen noted. “It was a great night for her with some amazing crosses and finishes.”

Park’s Lilly Newhouse and Sydnee Nelson scored their first varsity goals.

Park finished eighth in the Suburban East Conference with a 2-6-1 record and are 4-10-2 on the season.

“We have not been measuring our success this season by wins, but last night felt good,” Paleen added. “We have a very good team, and this has been the most enjoyable season. The girls are positive, work hard and are very coachable. We are excited for sections to start next week.”

Irondale finished 0-9 in the SEC and 2-12-1.

Visiting East Ridge blanked Park 3-0 in girls’ soccer Tuesday.

Seventh-seeded Park was scheduled to play at second- seeded Eagan Tuesday, Oct. 11, in the section quarterfinals.

Boys’ soccer wins regular season finale

Park tied its best offensive showing of the season Thursday in a 4-2 regular season ending win at Irondale.

The win lifted the Wolfpack to a seventh-place finish in the Suburban East Conference with a 2-6-1 record. Park is 4-9-2 on the season.

Irondale finished last in the SEC at 0-6-3 and 2-10-3 overall.

Park’s four goals tied its season best, matching wins against Apple Valley and Hastings. The two teams were knotted at 0-0 entering halftime.

Junior forward Killian Krech powered in a pair of goals for Park. Tanner Courteau and Cam Forys had Park’s other goals. Noah Haupt had two assists for the Wolfpack. Forys and Ayub Mohamed also added assists.

Visiting East Ridge blanked the Park Wolfpack 4-0 in boys’ soccer Tuesday.

Sixth-seeded Park plays at third-seeded Rosemount Tuesday in the section quarterfinals.

Park swimmer, divers fare well at Simley Park’s Wolfpack had several strong finishes in the Simley Swimming and Diving Invitational Saturday in Inver Grove Heights.

Junior Amber Norgaard placed third in the 100-yard freestyle (57.56) and finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (26.42).

Afton LeMay was eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:18.43) and ninth in the 200-yard IM in 2:31.76).

Park’s team of Alayna Faletti, Arachi O’Brien, LeMay and Norgaard finished third in the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:49.69. That same foursome finished fourth in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 4:03.86.

Sophomore Sarah Weston was eighth in diving with a score of 313.15.

Faletti was eighth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:09.37) and ninth in the 50-yard freestyle (27.49).

Zoe Pfeiffer finished 12th in the 100-yard butterfly (1:14.99). Ellie Imdieke was 12th in the 500-yard freestyle (6:08.97). Woodbury finished first in the nine-team race with 622.5 points. New Prague was second with 449, followed by 3, River Falls, 247.5; 4, Simley, 243; 5, MPA/SCPA, 221; 6, Park, 193; 7, White Bear Lake, 152; 8, Hudson, 131, and 9, Tartan, 66.

Norgaard’s win in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:18.34 and second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:05.88 topped Park’s efforts at Mounds View Thursday in a Suburban East Conference dual meet.

Faletti’s first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:08.76 Lemay was second in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:11.34 and second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:11.63. Zoe Pfeiffer was second in the 200-yard IM (2:40.11).

O’Brien was third in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:03.80 and fourth in the 50yard freestyle in 29.52.

Faletti finished third in the 500 freestyle in 6:07.25.

Weston finished fourth in diving with a score of 171.05.

Park was second in all three relays. In the 200-yard medley relay the team of Faletti, LeMay, O’Brien and Eraya Nybakken in 2:09.35. The Wolfpack foursome of Norgaard, Pfeiffer, Nybakken and O’Brien was second in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:55.74 and the quartet of Faletti, LeMay, Danika Rowan and Norgaard in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 4:07.49.

Mounds View won the meet 103-75.

Cross country team fifth at Simley Invite Park’s boys team finished fifth in the 14-team race in the Simley Invitational Saturday in Inver Grove Heights.

Senior Nicholas McDonald led the Park boys with a 13th place finish in a time of 17:59.12. He averaged 5:43.5 per mile.

Park freshman Eli Firchau finished 21st in 18:16.16. Tyler Krogman was 33rd in 18:43.26. Bronson Stachowski was 35th in 18:43.28, Mason Allen was 42nd in 18:55.26, Jack Weir 46th in 18:58.25 and Henry Schluetter was 51st in 19:18.16. Park’s team spread was just 1:07.2 between the top five runners.

Woodbury won the boys team title with 27 points, followed by East Ridge with 47 and Mahtomedi with 108. Park was fifth with 141.

The Park JV boys team finished third in the 14-team race with 87 points. Justin Kasa finished seventh in the JV race in 19:06.29.
