Park runners finish second at Red Wing Invite Nicholas McDonald finished seventh overall to lead the Park boy’s cross country team in the Winger Invite at Red Wing Friday. Mc-Donald ran the 5K course in 17:58.00.
Park’s top seven runners all finished in the top 27, leading the Wolfpack to a second place finish in the team race. Winona won the meet with 26 points, followed by, 2, Park, 77; 3, East Ridge, 81; 4, Raache, 92; 5, Red Wing, 110; 6, Hastings, 147; and 7, Math & Science Academy, 178.
Park’s Eli Firchau was 12th in 18:23, Tyler Krogman finished 17th in 18:30, Bronson Stachowski was 19th in 18;32, Mason Allen 22nd in 18:42, Jacob Markfort 24th in 18:46 and Henry Schluetter 27th in 18:50.
Lydia Best was 32nd in the girls’ varsity race in 23:51.
Park also won the boys junior varsity team race led by Justin Kasa’s first-place finish in 19:00.
Norgaard leads Park swimming and diving Junior Amber Norgaard won both the 50-yard freestyle (26.35) and the 100yard freestyle (56.75) to highlight the host Wolfpack’s efforts in a girls swimming and diving meet against Woodbury Thursday.
Woodbury won the girls varsity meet 103-72 at Cottage Grove Middle School.
Park junior Afton LeMay took first in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:17.85.
Park was a close second in the 200-yard medley relay in 2:05.133 with the team of Alayna Faletti, Le-May, Norgaard and Arachi O’Brien. That same foursome finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:50.09.
Eraya Nybakken had a time of 1:22.32 in the 100yard backstroke. Park’s team of Ellie Imdieke, Zoe Pfeiffer, Nybakken and Lilianna Morris closed a 4:42.34 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Boys’ soccer team goes 1-1 Tristan Lee and Noah Haupt scored for the Wolfpack as Park bounced visiting Forest Lake 2-0 in boys’ soccer Tuesday.
Ayub Mohamed had both assists for Park in the game.
On Thursday Park lost 4-1 at Mounds View. Mohamed had Park’s only goal, while Haupt had the assist.
Park (1-5-1, 3-8-2) finishes the regular season with a game at Irondale (0-4, 1-83) Thursday, Oct. 6.
Girls’ soccer falls at Hastings Park’s struggles to score continued Saturday as the Wolfpack tripped in girls’ soccer at Hastings, losing 3-0.
It was the seventh time in 14 games Park had failed to score in a match. The Wolfpack are averaging just seventh tenth of a goal this season.
Park dropped to 3-9-2 on the season and stand 1-5-1 in the Suburban East Conference.
Park lost 3-1 at Mounds View Thursday.
The Wolfpack snapped a four-game losing streak with a 2-1 win over visiting Forest Lake Tuesday.
Park girls win tennis section opener Park breezed through the opening round Monday in girls’ tennis section play, defeating visiting Como Park 7-0.
The win comes on the heels of Park’s 5-2 victory over Forest Lake Wednesday and a 4-3 triumph over Harding on Sept. 26.
Park continues section play this week.
