Park volleyball team sweeps Mounds View

After back-to-back fivegame sets last week, Park got an impressive sweep of visiting Mounds View Monday in Suburban East Conference volleyball.

Park won 25-20, 25-13 and 25-21 to improve to 9-3 on the season and 2-1 in SEC play.

Mounds View slipped to 5-9 and 1-2 in the conference.

Park dropped a hardfought decision to visiting White Bear Lake last Tuesday in five games, losing 2325. 20-25, 25-21, 25-6 and 8-15.

The Wolfpack rallied to tie the match at two-games all after dropping the first two games. But the Bears dominated the fifth and final game to claim the victory.

Park played its second five-game match at Woodbury Thursday, this time coming out of top in a contest which couldn’t have been much closer, winning 25-21, 29-27, 21-25, 22-25 and 15-10.

Park has a tough test against a good Roseville team (11-3, 1-1) Wednesday, then hosts Two Rivers (4-7) in a non-conference contest Monday.

Girls’ soccer blanked in a pair Park slipped to visiting Woodbury 2-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 20, then lost 3-0 at White Bear Lake on Thursday, Sept. 22.

Visiting Woodbury took a 2-0 decision from the Park Wolfpack in girls soccer Tuesday.

The Royals led 1-0 at the half, then added another goal in the second half while keeping the Wolfpack out of the net.

Park slipped to 0-4-1 in the Suburban East Conference and 2-7-2 on the season. Park swim, dive team goes 1-1 on the week Alayna Faletti, Afton Le-May and Amber Norgaard each had a hand in three victories as visiting Park swam past South St. Paul Tuesday, Sept. 20.

The Wolfpack won the meet 101-78.

Faletti, Lemay, Norgaard and Arachi O’Brien won both the 200-yard medley relay (2:08.64) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:52.81). The same foursome swam to a non-counting time of 4:05.75 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

In addition, Norgaard finished first in the 200-yard IM in 2:27.03, LeMay won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:19.47 and Faletti took top honors in the 500-yard freestyle (6:20.19). Park’s Sarah Weston again won the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 166.05.

Ella Langness was second in both the 200-yard IM in 2:53.72 and the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:25.59. Ellie Imdieke was second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:23.86.

Eraya Nybakken won the 100-yard freestyle in 1:07.78 and was third in the 200yard freestyle (2:29.13). Danika Rowan placed in the 50-yard freestyle in 30.46. Kaylynn Sowada was third in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:17.90. Lilianna Morris finished third in the 500-yard freestyle in 6:26.47.

Forest Lake swam past host Park 96-82 in a Suburban East Conference meet Thursday.

Park had just one winner, the 200-yard freestyle relay team of LeMay, O’Brien, Rowan and Norgaard finished first in a time of 1:51.55.

LeMay was second in the 200-yard IM (2:34.43), Norgaard was second in the 50-yard freestyle (26.52) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:05.82), Ellie Imdieke finished second in the 500-yard freestyle (6:05.51).

O’Brien clocked a time of 113.49 in the 100-yard backstroke. LeMay swam the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:18.86, and the Park team of LeMay, O’Brien, Rowan and Norgaard swam the 400-yard freestyle relay in 4:12.17.
