Park plays at Roseville Thursday afternoon.

Cross country boys third at Osceola Park sophomore Gavin Stauffer was seventh and senior teammate Nicholas McDonald eighth in the 5,000-meter Osceola Invitational Saturday in Osceola, Wisc.

Stauffer (17:56.6) and McDonald (18:08.8) led Park to a third-place team finish out of 13 teams competing Saturday.

Host Osceola won the boys team race with 52 points. Mahtomedi was second with 67 and Park third with 79.

Mason Allen finished 21st (18:48.0), Tyler Krogman was 22nd (18:50.4), Eli Firchau finished 23rd (18:54.5), Bronson Stachowiak was 26th (19:10.5) and Henry Schluetter finished 33rd (19:19.7) for the Wolfpack.

“Boys ran well as a team,” said Park coach Brad Narveson. “Finishing third out of 13 teams is an improvement from last year. We had nine runners set a personal best on a difficult course so that was great to see. We had two medalists in Gavin Stauffer and Nick McDonald who finished seventh and eighth respectively. Our third and fifth runners were much closer to our second runner which is what we’ve been hoping would happen soon. It was a great meet and I’m proud of how the kids performed.”
