Picnic for the Park to be held at Harriet Island

Join the Mississippi National River & Recreation Area in celebrating a year of milestones at Picnic for the Park from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3 at Harriet Island Regional Park.

According to Lily Jones, Marketing and Communications Coordinator for Mississippi Park Connection, “Picnic for the Park is a benefit fundraiser for Mississippi Park Connection - the official partner of the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area, a Minnesota National Park right here in the Twin Cities.”

This year the benefit also celebrates the 10-year anniversary of local habitat stewards Coldwater Crew, as well as an $8 million state legislative win for the Mississippi River Learning Center.

Jones said guests will be able to meet Ellen Reed, Mississippi Park Connection’s new Executive Director, “take in the city skyline while eating delectable locally sourced treats, play park Plinko, explore our silent auction and relax with friends outdoors along the Mississippi River - all while supporting your national park.”

Food at the event will include Smok'N Outdoors BBQ, Herbie Butcher's famous vegan flavors, sweets from X2 Pastries, and Spinning Wylde Cotton Candy Clouds. Live music will include the band “Potential New Boyfriend,” bringing the magic of mid-1900s western swing and country classics.

“Led by Jaclyn Mac's enchanting vocals and talented ensemble, their integrational music invites all ages to sing and dance along,” Jones said.

There is no registration deadline, but everyone is encouraged to register by July 31 to allow time to organize seating arrangements. There are two levels individuals can register as, Connect and Host. Connect is $125 per person and includes dinner, drinks, and a special gift at check-in. Host is $550 for six tickets and includes name recognition on host table sign, six tickets to Picnic for the Park, reserved table, and exclusive picnic baskets for you and your guests.
