School board approves bid to replace roof on District Program Center

Resolution to approve sale of $200 million in general obligation building bonds at Dec. 14 meeting

The District Program Center will be getting a new roof soon, following action by the South Washington County School Board at its Dec. 14.
Approved in the consent agenda is a bid for $1,381,405 from Peterson Brothers of St. Paul, recommended for approval by District Director of Facilities Kyle Uecker.
The bid which addresses both building envelope repairs and deck replacement, was the lowest received by base bid and unit price, repairs to take place in 2024.
Also made at the December regular board meeting was a resolution to approve the sale of general obligation and facility maintenance bonds in the amount of $200 million. Taking part in two installments, an initial bond sale for $100 million will take place Jan. 18, 2024, along with the sale of bonds for long-term facilities projects, something the district does every two years.
Representative for Ehlers will be present for the Jan. 18 bond sale, the school board then being asked to approve the bond sale winner.
“We’re combining these two bond sales together for economy of sale, issuance costs, and hopefully to catch the interest rates at a good time,” Finance Director Dan Pyan told the school board Dec. 14.
Approved Nov. 16 following the bond vote passage at the polls, meanwhile, the district moved to assign Wold Architects and KOMA for architect services for building changes, the motion made by Melinda Dols and seconded by Simi Patnaik, all present being in favor.
