At the end of the course, participants will know how to provide effective first-aid treatment for injuries and illnesses that commonly occur outdoors and how to make evacuation decisions when medical help may be hours or days away.
The class is 16 hours over two days not including breaks, and runs Saturday, Feb. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 25 from 1-7 p.m. There will be short breaks and lunch on Saturday. To be certified, participants must attend both days. To register go to https://carpenternaturecenter.org/event/wilderness-first-aid-course/.
The certification is based on attendance, class participation, and demonstration of comprehension of the material. Participants will receive the certificate 2-5 business days after class. The certificate is good for two years. This course is for ages 18+.

Instruction will be provided through lectures and skills practice. The class will take place both indoors and outdoors (weather-dependent). Participants may need to stand, lift, lay down, or kneel. Please reach out to the Carpenter Nature Center and let them know how they can accommodate your needs. All class materials are provided.
