Park freshman Rainna Jameson placed sixth in the girls’ high jump and junior OT Omot was eighth in both the boys’ triple jump and the high jump in the Class AAA state track and field meet Thursday and Saturday at St. Michael-Albertville High School.

Jameson – the school record holder with a 5-6 jump earlier this season — finished sixth in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5-4.

“We got a little nervous when Rainna missed her first two attempts at opening height but she and Coach (Mike) Weah made a couple of adjustments and she started making one height after another,” said Park girls coach Brad Narveson. “She made 5-4 and had a couple of great attempts at 5-5. She ended up in sixth place and on the podium … a great accomplishment for a freshman. All-State! She should be very proud.”

Omot was eighth in the triple jump with a best of 43-04.25 Thursday.

In the Class AAA high jump Saturday, Omot was eighth and Park sophomore Evan Brummond was just behind Omot in ninth, both clearing 6-feet even.

“Our boys also made the podium and earned All-State honors. OT Omot with two eighth place finishes in the triple jump and high jump … a great accomplishment in his first year out for track,” said Narveson. “Evan Brummond should also be very proud of himself. He tied for ninth place at state in the high jump to cap off a great season. It was a fun couple of days for our jumpers and coaches.”

Park’s school records ate 47-11 in the triple jump, set by R.J. Alowonle in 2012 and 6-8 in the high jump, established by Bryant Howe in 2000.

“We had a fun season,” Narveson added. “Our numbers were up. We scored more points at the true team meet than we’ve scored in a long time. We had some conference champions and a few state qualifiers. I would say it was a successful season. Now we’re looking to build off this season and have even more success in the future.”
