‘AND IN THIS CORNER, from PARTS UNKNOWN,’ with wrestling historian George Schire

The Washington County Historical Society is excited to announce that professional wrestling historian and author George Schire will be returning to the Washington County Heritage Center at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 to take attendees behind the mask to share the identities and stories of stories of wrestling’s mystery men from “Parts Unknown.”
In the old territory days of professional wrestling, there was a highly populated city called, “Parts Unknown.” It couldn’t be found on any map because no one knew where it was located. It was as mysterious as the wrestlers who were billed from this seemingly “lost city.”
Even more intriguing was that these wrestlers were all masked! Their faces covered so they couldn’t be recognized for a variety of given reasons.
Wrestling fans were told by promoters that they didn’t know who these masked men were. They didn’t know their names, their weights, or anything else about them. And the fans bought it and ate it up!
Schire has published several books about professional wrestling including “Minnesota's Golden Age of Wrestling: From Verne Gagne to the Road Warriors” and wrestling record books from the 1960s and 1970s. Schire’s books will be available for purchase at the event.
This event is free to the public and no reservations are required. Event attendees may attend either in-person at the Washington County Heritage Center or virtually on YouTube. To access the YouTube link, please visit wchsmn.org/event/loneranger
