Birdwatching paradise soon to arrive on riverfront

Posted

A birdwatcher’s dream is soon to arrive off Grey Cloud Slough in Cottage Grove.
Serving as a rest stop and way station for returning snowbirds, the riverfront Mississippi Dunes Reserve and nearby Grey Cloud Dunes SNA will each host a flurry of color, as millions of avian species make use of the Mississippi Flyway on their way home, stopping off in Cottage Grove.
Those taking to the SNA can park at one of two entry locations, one at the corner of 103rd and Hadley and the other at the west end of 110 Street South off Ideal Avenue.
Those taking to the Dunes Reserve will need to follow a road easement off Grey Cloud Trail South and stay near the river, in order not to trespass on private property to the north.
With new arrivals daily, the riverfront is the place to be for area and regional birdwatchers this season.
