Park opened the 2023-24 boys’ hockey season with a pair of impressive wins, skating to a 6-3 win over Forest Lake in the home opener Wednesday, then taking a 7-3 victory at Eagan on Friday.

Junior Owen Corkish scored two goals for the Wolfpack in the opener against Forest Lake. Cole Talledge, Luke Dahlstrom, Gavin Moss and Jackson Rudh also put the puck in the back of the net.

Park led 2-1 after the first period, and 4-2 after two,

Gavin Sand, Brady Nadler, Caden Schwartz, Moss, Tommy Lucas, Wyatt Beaurline, Michael Destasio, Nick Bailey, Rudh and Corkish all had assists for the Wolfpack.

Park outshot the visitors 34-18.

Aidan Miller got the win in the net for the Wolfpack, stopping 15 of 18 shots.

At Eagan on Friday, Max Kaplan and Gavin Moss scored twice each, while Owen Corkish and Jackson Rudh had four assists each. Park jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two periods and was never threatened.

Cole Talledge, Corkish and Rudh also scored goals against the Wildcats.

Goalie Aidan Miller notched his second win of the season, blocking 19 of 22 Eagan shots.

After two games, Corkish has three goals and five assists, while Rudh has two goals and seven assists and Moss has three goals and an assist.

“In both games scoring was led by the junior line of Corkish, Moss and Rudh, with them having among the highest point per game totals after two games,” said Park head coach Jeff Corkish. “Times will get tougher but these three are off to a great start so far and have been challenged by the coaches to work hard at getting off the walls, out of the corners and into the middle of the ice where the goals are scored."

“These three are given a lot of freedom with their offensive choices but have also been challenged to play the game defensively as hard as they do when trying to scores,” Corkish continued. “So far they have made great strides with adding back pressure, not quitting on plays, making fast line changes so they are fresh to go out on the ice again and creating a ton of turnovers giving them more and more scoring chances.”

Park skates against archrival East Ridge Thursday at Cottage Grove Ice Arena, starting at 7:30 p.m.
